EEast-T436 EX2

This was a simple 6 shot camera exercise I did for my T436 class. It looks like there is more than 6 shots in the exercise, but it is just how I chose to edit it together in order to make it appear more dramatic, there is really only 4 shots even though it looks like 8. So there is a bit of focus issues in a couple shots because I scaled the image up to get a tight shot on the eyes. I did it that way so I could use 8 shots and still be within the project guidelines.

It was shot with a Nikon D5100 without a lighting kit because I am too afraid to check one out through the IU Telecom Department because I might get sued or something. So instead I just used standard household lamps. I wanted to shoot indoors since my first exercise was shot outside. I also wanted to try and slow the video down and play with the speed. Unfortunately the D5100 does not shoot 60fps so I couldn’t get the cinematic definition I was looking for.

I wasn’t completely satisfied with the color levels, I tried adjusting to make the colors look more dramatic and cinematic, but I am still working on my color correction skills. Since I was shooting against an all white wall background I had my lead actor wear all dark colors. His skin tone still looks a bit off, but when I try to add more of an orange effect it also makes the walls have an orange tint. There is probably a better way than using the 3 way color corrector, like some selective/replace color effect, but I am still an utter novice when it comes to color correcting.

For the sound I initially wanted to get some vintage NBA or NCAA game announcer during a dramatic-game-deciding free throw attempt, but unfortunately my favorite Firefox add-on is no longer working. Damn the man!
